Crise au Sénégal: à l’université de Ziguinchor, une grève contre «une situation très grave»

Au Sénégal, c’est la grogne dans les universités après la mort d’un étudiant le 9 février 2024, lors de manifestations contre le report de l’élection présidentielle. Alpha Yero Tounkara est décédé à l’université Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis. Le Syndicat autonome de l’enseignement supérieur a décrété une grève de 48 heures ces 12 et 13 février. À l’université Assane-Seck de Ziguinchor, dans le sud du pays, les étudiants ont cessé leurs activités. Reportage.

Pas de cours, des bâtiments fermés, l’université Assane-Seck tourne au ralenti. « Rien n’est fonctionnel, il n’y a rien, confirme un premier étudiant. J’ai fait du sport ». « On en profite pour réviser nos leçons », ajoute une deuxième.  « On reste comme ça, sans rien faire, avec un café Touba, répond un troisième. C’est une situation très grave et nous voulons que justice soit rendue »

« Une atmosphère triste qui plane autour de nous et tout le monde est inquiet »

Devant le foyer, des jeunes préparent une veillée nocturne en hommage à Alpha Yero Tounkara et au jeune lycéen Landing Camara décédé à Ziguinchor samedi soir. Adèle Diatta, représentante de la coordination des étudiants : « C’est un peu une atmosphère triste qui plane autour de nous et tout le monde est inquiet. Les forces de l’ordre se permettent maintenant d’entrer dans les universités. On ne peut pas être épargné. »

« Il faut protéger les universités », affirme de son côté Alexandre Coly, enseignant-chercheur et coordinateur à Ziguinchor du Syndicat autonome de l’enseignement supérieur (Saes) : « Notre syndicat ne peut pas accepter que des étudiants soient tués, parce qu’ils veulent manifester pour ce qu’ils considèrent extrêmement important, et qui est le bien de tout un chacun : le respect de la Constitution de la République du Sénégal. »

Le Saes qui réclame par ailleurs la réouverture de l’université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar, toujours fermée depuis le mois de juin. Au total, trois personnes tuées depuis le 9 février dans le cadre de manifestations contre le report de la présidentielle sénégalaise du 25 février au 15 décembre 2024.
